Kim Delaney (born Kim Delaney) is an American actor best well-known for her character of detective Diane Russell in ABCs NYPD Blue, for which she won an Emmy Award. In addition, she was a part of series like All My Children Philly CSI: Miami, Army Wives and CSI: Miami. Delaney was the sole child of her mother who was a homemaker and senior executive from her union, the United Auto Workers. Delaney spent most of her childhood in the company of four brothers. In her early years she was aspired to become a court reporter. After graduating from high school and moving to New York in the 1980s and began to model, she was hooked. In 1981, she starred as a naive teen in the film All My Children. Since then Delaney has appeared in numerous TV dramas and films. The professional life she has had is much more lucrative than her personal life. She has been in the past talented actress struggled to overcome the effects of alcohol and two marriages fall apart. In 2005, she was denied the custody of her son.
